Bees, Bees, Bees

Tim and Piper went on Sunday to get our two new packages. Turns out despite high hopes, we lost the hive that we saw flying during the cold weather last week. Tim talked to the person he get the bees from and he said it was mites. As much as we are loath to put chemicals on the hive, he decided to treat them this year to see if that would help since we are consistently losing our hives over the winter.

Here’s the apprentice beekeeper getting ready to help dad install the packages. I didn’t get any photos, but I guess she was covered with bees and completely kept her cool.

They got the two hives successfully installed, now we just cross our fingers that the queens make it out without a problem.
