We traditionally have the neighbors over for cake on Piper’s birthday. Since Piper had riding lessons on her birthday this year, we took cake to the barn instead. We still wanted to celebrate with Mr. and Mrs. L, so Saturday I made another “cake” so Piper could blow out her candles with them. Mrs. L is diabetic, so I decided since Piper already had her sugar-filled cake, I would make something that Mrs. L could eat this year. I thought the watermelon fruit salad cake turned out pretty cute, it was very simple to make, and best of all it did not require me to turn the oven on in 90 degree weather. Perhaps another tradition in the making?
Yes, that is a giant jar of pickles. Piper loves them and was happy as could be with her gift.
