St. Mark’s Basilica

This is easily the most over-the-top cathedral I’ve ever seen. It takes up a whole side of San Marco’s square and is simply dripping with marble, carvings, statues, and pillars. They don’t allow pictures inside, but the entire enormously domed ceiling is done in mosaic–mostly gold. It’s pretty much impossible to get a picture of the entire church, but Piper and I have been doing our best to collect our favorite bits and pieces over the last two days

  1. Piper looks like she is delivering a very important piece of information she discovered about the piazza. 🙂
